OK, so now you know how the market and organization works but how does it all come together? There are three main processes to occur to get the idea to print to the customer:
- Pre-press – From design to production of the image carrier
- Press – The process for transferring image to substrate. electronic or conventional
- Post Press – fi nal manufacturing processes; folding, conversion, binding, die-cutting, etc.
As printing is changing today, the following diagrams depict the fl ow of a job from various plants; conventional, digital and a combination.
It takes a lot of work to get the idea a customer has through the printing pro-cess and to them in the way they envisioned!
